Southern Company Gas
We have been proud members of the communities we serve for more than 160 years, and we will continue to give back with our time, talent and resources.
Inspiring women from our Southern Company Gas team encouraged young ladies to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics at the American Heart Association’s 3rd annual “STEM Goes Red” event in Atlanta. The day-long event provided insights into the possibilities of pursuing a STEM career while also providing education about women’s cardiovascular health. This inspired girls to explore STEM outside the classroom while embracing the importance of being heart-healthy. Kelle Newman, Meagan Barnidge, Morgan Wright and Tawanna Hines spoke to the teenagers about careers in engineering and field operations. Through breakout sessions, our Southern Company Gas team was able to make lasting impressions by showing the correlation between engineering & math and how we deliver safe, reliable natural gas to our customers. Southern Company Gas hopes to assist the nation in closing the gender gap in STEM jobs and increase the number of women pursuing STEM degrees in higher education.
