Good Neighbor Story
At Summit, we understand we are only as strong as the communities we serve, which is why each year we partner with local charitable organizations, schools, industry groups and our employees to give back to those we serve and their communities with these goals in mind:
Support the betterment of the communities, environment and people we serve, enhance relationships within those communities, and support business development and growth.
In November, 2019, a team of Summit Natural Gas – Maine employees recently volunteered at Maine Farm Days, an annual agricultural trade show held at Misty Meadows Farm in Clinton, Maine. Over three days, twenty Summit team members helped with a variety of activities at the event, from setting up the day before the event started to serve ice cream and lead activities at the Children’s Tent, including tie dying t-shirts and participating in the dunk tank.
In addition to organizing and providing volunteers for the two-day event, Summit also sponsored the Children’s Tent where kids had the opportunity to engage with farm animals and take part in a variety of activities, including milking cows and ice cream making.
The volunteer opportunity was made possible by Summit’s award-winning Volunteer Time Off program, which provides employees up to 20 hours a year of paid time off to volunteer in the community.
